THE GUT GIRLS

By Sarah Daniels
The foul mouthed, beer-swilling Gut Girls of Victorian London spend their days ankle deep in blood and nights in the delights of the East End’s most notorious dance halls. Known for their outrageous hats, raucous antics and don’t mess attitude, these cockney lasses ain’t the type of girl you want to take home, let alone meet down a dark alley.
Earning more in a week gutting carcasses than a year in domestic service, the Gut Girls have independence and each other. When Lady Helena’s attempts to improve the girls through bible studies and sobriety fall short and the slaughterhouse closes, freedom is butchered.
OutFox are back at the Jack with Sarah Daniels’ The Gut Girls.
Performed at The Jack Studio Theatre 11th – 29th March 2014.
