THE GUT GIRLS

By Sarah Daniels

The foul mouthed, beer-swilling Gut Girls of Victorian London spend their days ankle deep in blood and nights in the delights of the East End’s most notorious dance halls. Known for their outrageous hats, raucous antics and don’t mess attitude, these cockney lasses ain’t the type of girl you want to take home, let alone meet down a dark alley.

Earning more in a week gutting carcasses than a year in domestic service, the Gut Girls have independence and each other. When Lady Helena’s attempts to improve the girls through bible studies and sobriety fall short and the slaughterhouse closes, freedom is butchered.

OutFox are back at the Jack with Sarah Daniels’ The Gut Girls.

Performed at The Jack Studio Theatre 11th – 29th March 2014.

**** “Once again, OutFox have proven themselves to be at the absolute fore-front of London Fringe Theatre. They deserve every success for maintaining high standards in each of their productions and this production is no different… The Gut Girls is a considered and beautifully rendered piece of fringe. Book your tickets now whilst you can!” FEMALE ARTS

****  “the relish that these women have in working together is palpable” BROADWAY BABY

“a well rendered picture of life for women in Victorian South London aptly revived in one of the most attractive and innovative theatres south of the river.” EXTRA! EXTRA!

“OutFox’s version of The Gut Girls really merits seeing; the performances are strong, the vision is cohesive… The audience is drawn into the story, and leaves really thinking on what they have seen, making this a very strong and exciting piece of Fringe theatre.” A YOUNGER THEATRE

*** “give this play a butchers. It’s got meat, and it’s got style.” VIEWS FROM THE GODS
